REMEBRANCE

Choreographers and Dancers: Hope Blackburn Shoup and Jacob Shoup

Music: Aaron Copland’s  Appalachian Spring

This is a simple story that has perhaps taken place millions of times in the lives of American people. It’s the history of a husband, a wife, and a purpose. It is also to honor those have served in the armed forces.

The following was written by Dimensional Dance’s principle dancer Matisse Madden.

On this summer evening, in the spirit of our nation’s founding, we are reminded that authors of the Declaration of Independence spoke of inalienable rights-life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness-and envisioned a world in which individuals could move freely toward their highest potential. Dance, at its finest, transcends words. It reminds us that freedom is not merely a political principle, but a deeply human experience–a feeling of possibility, wonder, and connection. Through each gesture and phrase of movement, dancers invite us to reflect on the harmony between nature’s boundless beauty and the liberties that have inspired generations to dream, create, and flourish. As we celebrate both art and the ideals that have shaped our nation, may this performance inspire us to cherish the freedom around us, the beauty within us, and the shared humanity that unites us all.
